So this past weekend was my dear husband's and my nephew's birthday so we had a yummy barbeque at my twin's house. My job was to bring the cake and ice cream. I had previously found this recipe for ice cream and since I know that everyone loves homemade ice cream - I decided to make it. So what was the ice cream??? Toasted Marshmallow Ice Cream! It was delicious and a BIG hit. We decided that we would bring some graham crackers and chocolate chips too so if someone wanted to make it Smores Ice Cream they could. I found the recipe at Roasting Rambler under the dessert section if you want to try it. I definitely will be making it again.

I also wanted to show the completed quilt that I made this past couple of months for my sister. It was a pattern I found in the "Quilts and more" magazine Winter 2010 - called Natural Beauty. I think that it turned out great and I know my sister loved it. She picked out the material from the Ty Pennington home line and what is the best is that I get the leftovers!
I hope you had a great weekend! I sure did with all the birthdays and the 24th of July celebrations for Pioneer Day in Utah.

Cute wreath and dresser!
I know that I have been a slacker on posting on this blog but I am going to turn over a new leaf and try harder. I have no excuse except to say that I haven't stopped creating things I just have forgot to post them. Sad story - I know. ;) So without further ado I wanted to show the cute wreath that I made. I have been wanted to try this for forever and I bought the supplies a million months ago but it has been sitting waiting. So over the weekend I pulled it out and made it. I bought a dollar store foam wreath and the craft paper was from the dollar store too so I am in it a total of $2. Don't you love this kind of crafts! I channeled my elementary self and made a grown-up version of the tissue paper art. I can't remember what blog had this idea so I can't give proper credit but I love it! After cutting a million flowers later (I love my cricut for this)- I started to glue. You take an unsharpened pencil and put it in the middle of the flower. You then fold the flower up around the pencil and put a dab of hot glue on it. You then glue it onto the wreath. Easy as pie! Look at the finished product - I must say it is darling!
So my little girl promptly told everyone that the wreath was for her room and I had to agree. I have wanted to incorporate teal into her room for a while now. It is currently pink and brown. So with this wreath in her room I figured that she needed more teal and told myself that I was going to paint her dresser. I put a base coat of a dark chocolate brown and then put the teal paint on it. Lastly I glazed it with some cream paint. I love how it turned out. It is very calming to me. I think because it reminds me of the sea. I then sanded some of the paint off the edges and look how it turned out:

See you later!

Finally! - no really it has been busy
I know you are probably wondering if I have dropped off of the face of the earth and believe me there are times that I wonder too. I have had a couple of months of complete madness. I am using this excuse because of sick kids, growing another kid, and birthdays. So I thought that I would show you some of the crafts that I did but have not posted yet. First - I had a party to give my little girl and all she wanted was a "princess" cake with a yellow dress. After fretting about how to make it, I decided to try fondant for the first time. I have to say that I love that stuff. So here is a picture with how it turned out.
Next, yes - I did say that I had to grow another kid. So I am pregnant and due in November and just loving getting sick around 3 pm and staying sick until I eat breakfast. I swear my poor husband will never eat another bowl of mini-wheats as long as he lives. He has been a trooper with helping with cooking for our family because I can't stand the thought or the smell of food. Thankfully, I am starting to get over some of the sickness and just starting to look and feel fat. :)
Last but not least, I have been busy with life. Sick kids are all around and I just love having to clean the smell of puke and other ailments out of the carpet - especially when I am having a hard enough time keeping any food down as it is. I promise that I made some things though - Here are a couple of pictures for mother's day. I made a cute card for my mother-in-law and somehow (spouse anyone?) it was erased. So you don't get to see that but you get to see the darling flower that I made to put on her present. I had a blast making it with my cricut.
Here is the picture of the card that I made for my mom for mother's day.
I also made around 11 birthday cards for my mom because of her calling and I forgot to take any pictures of those so you don't get to see that either. I know I am a slacker. I do have a great idea for my next project and I am going to make 2 so I can give away one to a follower. So here are the rules - You will have to be signed up as a follower to receive one entry into the drawing, you can get a second entry by commenting on the next blog too. I don't have that many followers so your chances are looking good. :) I will give you a tease of what it is - It is a spinoff from the crayon rolls that you see around alot. That is all the hints that I will give so you will need to stay tuned! Have a great day and I hope that I will start getting more faithful about posting again. Thanks!
